Off the Beaten Path (part 3)

1000 island permission

On July 18th, I had set out to a remote island among the 1000 islands with my family, we will call this island, “the island of forgotten treasure. over the past year I seemed to become extremely interested in history and have gained an insatiable curiosity for uncovering hidden treasures from the past.

Armed with my trusty Legend & new Simplex Ultra metal detectors, I set off on an extraordinary journey to this never explored (this year) island, where legends whispered of untold riches and forgotten treasures.

The island of Forgotten Treasure was covered in private cottages, towering cliffs, and dense forests. As I stepped foot on its shores, I couldn’t help but be overwhelmed by the sense of adventure that lay ahead. I knew that beneath the sand and soil, buried for centuries or possibly months, lay the secrets of a forgotten civilization or at the very least, a pull tab, just waiting to be unearthed.

With anticipation of my metal detectors first beep, I wandered through the dense foliage. Every step I took was like a dance with destiny, as I was imagining the treasures that could lie just beneath the soil. As I heard the faint sounds on the detector, indicating deep targets I dug diligently, my hands covered in dirt, revealing shards of ancient history, one item at a time. Rusted coins, Relics, & Trash. Each discovery fuelled my excitement further, pushing me to venture deeper into the heart of the island.

What was supposed to be a Day, turned into several, and my determination never wavered. I battled sweltering heat, treacherous cliffs, and the occasional encounter with other wild humans, curious to see if I had found anything of value? but nothing could pry my lips apart to reveal what I had found. No one could dampen my spirit. I had no choice but to continue, until every inch of my permission had been detected. After only a few short hours, I felt as if I had become one with the island, my senses heightened, and my. passion ignited once more. If only I had been paying attention to the direction I was heading. Now lost on the island I needed to start trying to find my way back to the cottage.

On day 2 in the afternoon sometime, as the sun began its descent, my Legend detector screeched with a slight high pitched noise I had not yet heard before. I knew, or at least had a real gut feeling about this next item that this was no ordinary find. I dug deep into the earth, my heart beating fast, and all of a sudden there, gleaming in the last few moments of the sun’s rays, I had just uncovered a magnificent ummm no, this can’t be right. A dog whistle? lol not exactly what I was anticipating if I was to be completely honest lol.

As I held the artifact in my hands, I could feel the weight of history and the stories it held. But my conscience whispered caution, reminding me that such an item, must be handled with care.

I decided to leave the artifact behind and report my discovery to the proper authorities, for I had seen other humans recently walking by with a canine in hand, ensuring its preservation for future dog owners.

And so, the island and its secrets should be a beacon of hope, reminding us all, that the desire to uncover the unknown, & to uncover the secrets of the past, and to embrace the thrill of adventure should forever be etched within the human spirit. That’s right. I said it! A dog whistle should be the item of hopes and dreams lol.

The only item of interest I actually found was a 1975 Roosevelt Dime. “one for my show case anyway.”
